SAITA Consulting is committed to Corporate
Social Responsibility.
At SAITA, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) primarily implies responsible
business practices. In a global business environment that is hugely dynamic,
and in a country where business perspectives and opportunities are continuously
evolving and growing, it is imperative that as a society we ensure that business
is conducted in a socially and environmentally responsible manner. CSR
needs to be incorporated into Business Strategy and be seen as a means of integrating
the economic, social, cultural and environmental imperatives of the company's
activities.

At SAITA we also recognize that CSR is particularly critical in the case of small
and medium scale
businesses that are often located within intimate social systems, making it vital
for the management to put in place sustainable stakeholder management initiatives
which link with the core business mandate and positively impact on the bottom
lines of the business. SAITA Consulting in its role as a management consultant
partner will help its clients develop CSR policies geared towards responsible
and ethical business development. The objective is to work towards the economic
development of the organization, while improving the quality of life of employees
and their families as well as of the local community and society at large.
CSR comprises both internal and external components. The former
applies to employee
welfare, their health and safety, transparent
and ethical accounting and fiscal policies and practices etc.
External CSR normally includes those actions that a company does
not undertake in its regular business operations, and includes engaging
with the community and responding to
their concerns, supporting progressive
government policies, supporting non-governmental organisations
and various charities, and other such activities.
CSR commitments and activities typically address issues such
as:
- health and safety
- environmental protection
- human rights
- human resource management practices
- corporate governance
- community development
- consumer protection
- labour protection
- supplier relations
- business ethics
- stakeholders rights
We are clear that CSR is a continuous initiative built into the core values of
an organization, and is not a one-off, or a series of one-off activities. It
is also different from markedly different from Corporate Philanthropy, which
while being a laudable exercise, does not need to be built into the business
operations and objectives of a company.
